Following the devastating flooding that struck Somerset in mid-September 2023, one of Savills' properties was severely damaged by the heavy rain and floodwater.

The cottage required comprehensive flood restoration, drying, and decontamination to reclaim its original charm and functionality.

Our flood restoration team at ICE Cleaning was entrusted with the task of restoring the property to a safe and pristine state, helping Savills restore the cottage’s value.

The Challenge:

The extensive flooding affected several rooms within the cottage, including the kitchen, living room, pantry, sitting room, utility, WC, bathroom, and entrance hall.

The challenge included removing the excess water, decontaminating affected areas, and drying the home to reduce the risk of mould growth. We conducted several drying programmes to achieve the final stage of the flood restoration, making the home safe and habitable again.

The Solution: Comprehensive Flood Restoration Services

Our approach to flood restoration starts with an initial moisture survey to assess the extent of the damage accurately. This was followed by swift water extraction to remove standing water from the premises, preventing further structural deterioration.

The core of the restoration process was the implementation of our 4-step hygiene cleaning method. Firstly, the affected areas were sanitised with chemical and anti-bacterial solutions to eliminate contaminants and reduce health risks.

State-of-the-art equipment was employed to clean all surfaces thoroughly, ensuring the removal of residual debris and contaminants.

The third step involved rinsing the surfaces with water extraction tools, effectively eliminating excess moisture, and advancing the drying process. Damaged fabrics were identified and removed as necessary to prevent the spread of mould and mildew.

Finally, the air quality within the cottage was addressed using HEPA Air Scrubber equipment, ensuring it was safe to breathe and free from any lingering traces of excess moisture.

Drying programmes were meticulously conducted several times to further the restoration process and prevent further damage to the property.

The Outcome:

The culmination of our team’s efforts resulted in the successful restoration of Savills' cottage property. Our dedicated team of professionals executed the flood restoration process with precision and efficiency, employing industry-leading techniques and equipment.

Meticulous implementation of the 4-step hygiene cleaning method, coupled with effective drying programmes, ensured that the property was restored to its pre-flood condition and protected against future risks of mould and contamination.

The seamless coordination and attention to detail ensured that every aspect of the restoration process was carried out meticulously, meeting, and exceeding Savills' expectations.

Throughout the restoration journey, open communication channels were maintained with Savills, providing regular updates on the progress, and addressing any concerns promptly.

This collaborative approach fostered trust and confidence in the restoration process, reassuring Savills of our commitment to excellence. Our resilience and expertise reaffirmed their confidence in the partnership.
