These numbers have doubled as many private property owners cannot afford to remove graffiti; therefore, the community have become complacent and accept it as a part of the landscape.

However, Southwark Council's mission to make the community safer and cleaner aims to change this complacency. According to local news sources, Southwark Council have recently decided to change their stance on graffiti removal, pledging to waive charges for graffiti removals on privately owned buildings.
