Moth Control FAQs
The basics
How can I stop moths from returning?
There are several things you can do to deter moths from returning to your home. Hoovering on a regular basis is recommended, as well as cleaning clothes after they have been worn rather than putting them back in the wardrobe. This is because moths are attracted to unclean items of clothing.
What is a moth's lifespan?
A moth's life is generally quite short, but if they go into hibernation their lifespan will be longer. Female moths tend to live shorter, as they die once they have laid their eggs. Male moths, however, will not live much longer once they have mated.
Why have I got a moth problem?
If you open your windows and have visible light sources, moths may be drawn to your home.
Unsealed food is likely to be attractive for pantry moths, while unclean clothing will be a favourite for clothing moths.
How do I know if I have a moth problem?
To identify a moth problem, you should check clothing for visible holes. Moth-eaten is unfortunately not just a turn of phrase.
Also look within wardrobes and inside of clothing for moths too, where they are likely to inhabit. Some types of moths love to avoid light sources.
Cocoons may also be present - they could even the same substance as the area that has become occupied.
