What is black mould?
Black mould is an umbrella term for mould that is black, dark green, grey or brown. One of the most common types is Stachybotrys chartarum which is a strain of mould that is found in damp buildings suffering from water damage.
Although many believe all black mould is toxic, only certain types occasionally release mycotoxins.
Exposure to toxic black mould can be devastating for homeowners as it may cause skin irritation and respiratory issues. In some cases, it can affect a child’s development, trigger asthma attacks in asthmatics, lead to chronic illnesses and cause fatal health problems.
