Mould Remediation At London Museum Of Water & Steam
The Challenge
London Museum of Water & Steam, based in South-West London, required our mould remediation services in their Georgian pumping house.
With the reopening date confirmed, the tourist attraction will soon become available to the wider public. Therefore, it was important that the museum secured a safe, mould-free environment for visitors.
The Solution
Several steps were taken to avoid potential hazards arising during the process. Our technicians carried out a comprehensive risk assessment prior to beginning the work and wore personal protective equipment (PPE) whilst dealing with any harmful chemicals.
The mould remediation process was divided into 4 parts:
Our technicians used a HEPA-rated vacuum to remove any loose mould.
We then sprayed an antimicrobial agent over all areas of mould.
Our technicians wiped down the areas affected to remove the surface mould.
The team finished by fogging the room to kill any airborne mould spores.
The Outcome
We successfully removed the mould, both on the surface and in the air, in time for the big reopening. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our technicians, the team at London Museum were satisfied with the work completed.
Most importantly, we were able to transform the Georgian pumping house into a safe, clean environment for visitors and families to enjoy and discover.
“James and his team took on a challenge at our museum, undertaking mould remediation in a Georgian pumping house, working around the original cast iron engines that were the first to pump clean water into London. They were respectful of these artefacts and the historic building, and quickly ensured that the mould was a thing of the past".
