Trauma Cleaning For BT Sport 

The Challenge

During mixed martial arts (MMA) events, blood and bodily fluids are often spilled in the cage, medical areas, and changing rooms. These are biohazardous substances that must be cleaned up thoroughly as they might contain pathogens, like bacteria and viruses, and put fighters, staff, and the audience at risk.

General cleaners, however, cannot clean them up. Only trauma cleaners with training, specialist products, and personal protective equipment (PPE) can safely remove all traces of dangerous substances, sanitise the affected area, and dispose of biohazardous material.

BT Sport (now TNT Sports) recently reached out to ICE Cleaning to clean up and dispose of any blood and bodily fluids in their studios during a UFC fight event staged by Cage Warriors – Europe’s leading mixed MMA promotion which has held events around the world for over 20 years.

The Solution

ICE Cleaning sent a team of trauma cleaning specialists to clean up any biohazard substances during the event. They also provided biohazard bins for any dangerous substances and contaminated materials, and took away the waste for disposal.

ICE Cleaning’s trauma cleaners are fully trained in biohazard decontamination and the disposal of biohazardous waste. They have experience working on a range of trauma scenes, from crime scenes to road traffic accidents, and are accredited by the National Association of Crime Scene Cleaners.  

Throughout the event, the technicians wore the appropriate respiratory protective equipment and PPE to stay safe while in close contact with the blood and bodily fluids. This included gloves, masks, goggles, safety boots, white suits, and shoe covers.

The Outcome

By thoroughly removing all traces of any biohazardous substances, ICE Cleaning’s technicians could keep everyone in the BT Sport studios safe, and ensure they left behind a clean environment for whoever uses it next. The event organisers were delighted with their work and have since requested their involvement in future events.
